Cinderella in Waiting

As I am sure you have noticed, I have not shared writings publicly in a while. To be honest, I have been struggling with a  bit of writer’s block. I have often heard of it, but rarely being a person without something to say, I have never experienced it.

As I began praying over this struggle, a pattern began to emerge. Everywhere I turned I seemed to read, hear, or experience one theme repeatedly. The theme revolved around waiting. Minor health issues caused me to have to spend much time waiting in lobbies at doctors offices and imaging centers. Unusual traffic conditions put me in the position of waiting helplessly until roads cleared. Family situations required patience and waiting for answers and wisdom. Friends and loved ones began sharing burdens that called for time – time to heal, time to reveal, or time to resolve.

I am going to be perfectly honest with you. I do not like to wait. I mean when it gets right down to it, I am just fine with skipping past the baking time and eating the cake batter or the cookie dough! Doing so, however, robs me of the beauty, texture, and flavor of the final product only produced by waiting on the baking process to occur.

So over the next few weeks, God has impressed upon my heart to share with you remembrances of a particularly painful period of waiting in my own life. I am entitling this series “Cinderella in Waiting” for two reasons. One, this is what Charlie called me the day I knew God had given him to me to restore my faith in love and marriage. Most important, I chose this name because as women we are all God’s princesses in waiting. You see, God already knows the glass slipper fits. We simply must submit to the process of coming to know that through Him, it is ours to wear.

“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31
